Archived Wikinews articles are fully protected, as they are considered snapshots in time, permanent records of history. Published Wikinews articles are usually semi-protected from editing, and fully protected from moving, as they are exported content of the project. Final Medal Count

The images that originally appeared on an article are considered part of its snapshot in time, protected under the archive policy. Wikinews therefore does not substitute alternative images if an original image becomes unavailable once the archive policy has taken effect (as of this writing, 24 hours after publication; substitution thereafter would be considered an encyclopedic measure). Images deleted from Commons may be suitable for local restoration on Wikinews under fair use.
