India has delivered approximately 2.5 tonnes of emergency medical supplies to Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, following a recent airstrike on a hospital that resulted in significant casualties.
The aid was transported via a Kam Air flight and is intended to support treatment for victims of the March 16 attack on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital. According to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), at least 143 people were killed and 119 others were injured in the incident.[1]
Authorities in Afghanistan have alleged that the airstrike was carried out by Pakistan’s air force. However, Pakistan has denied the allegations, stating that its operations targeted nearby military installations and suggesting that the casualties may have been caused by secondary explosions.[2]
The Government of India did not assign responsibility for the attack but emphasized its commitment to humanitarian assistance. The medical supplies are aimed at strengthening healthcare response efforts in the aftermath of the incident.
India has previously provided humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, including medicines, vaccines, and food supplies, particularly during times of crisis.
