A DeKalb County Police Officer was fatally shot. Friday, August 8, 2025, while responding to an active shooter situation near the CDC campus and Emory University in Atlanta. The shooter, fired from inside a CVS Pharmacy located near the CDC. The officer was critically injured and later died at Emory University Hospital.
Talking to the press on Tuesday, The Bureau of Investigation Georgia, Director Chris Hosey said that investigators recovered 500 shell casings at the scene, and they believe around 200 rounds struck six buildings within the CDC complex. Five guns were also seized.
