On Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, a UPS MD-11, UPS’s third-largest plane, crashed shortly after takeoff at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. The flight, UPS 2976, was going from Louisville, Kentucky, to Honolulu, Hawaii. As of November 5th at 2:13 PM EST, 9 deaths have been reported (and are expected to increase), and 11 people have been taken to the hospital, with a few in critical condition. The crash was caused by a fire in the left engine during takeoff. This is a developing story, and there is still more to be learned.
