Hardik Pandya To Be Part Of Mega IPL Trade Deal. Mumbai Indians Identify Sensational Target: Report - sports.ndtv.com

The Mumbai Indians are reportedly considering a significant trade involving all-rounder Hardik Pandya. According to a report by Revsportz, Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as the primary target for the Mumbai Indians in a potential deal.

Speculation surrounding Pandya’s future with the franchise has intensified following their ninth-place finish in IPL 2026, a season marked by a disappointing performance from the all-rounder. The report indicates that the MI team management is set to hold a crucial review meeting next week, where decisions on the futures of several key players and coaches may be made. It is also suggested that Pandya’s representatives are already in advanced discussions with the Rajasthan Royals.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is viewed as an attractive long-term prospect for the Mumbai Indians, potentially being groomed to succeed Rohit Sharma. Furthermore, the five-time champions might also consider releasing Suryakumar Yadav as part of their rebuilding efforts.

In terms of leadership, the Mumbai Indians are reportedly seeking a new captain with an eye on the future. Tilak Varma, recently appointed as India’s T20I vice-captain, is considered a strong frontrunner for the role.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan due to a fresh quadriceps strain. He had been undergoing assessment for a back spasm injury sustained during the IPL while playing for Mumbai Indians.

Sources suggest that the new injury may have occurred during a bowling session at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. With three weeks needed for recovery, his participation in the ODI series is considered highly unlikely.

Pandya had missed several IPL matches for MI but returned for the team’s final games. This latest injury setback comes at a critical time, as he is being considered for increased involvement in ODI cricket with the next World Cup in mind. An ankle injury during the 2023 ODI World Cup had previously impacted the team’s balance, and Pandya remains a vital part of India’s plans for the 2027 event.
