Thirteen years ago today, the Cassini spacecraft reached the planet Saturn.

This major event in science history was featured in the 2005 edition of Brain Quest. On page 72 of the 7th Grade Brain Quest, one of the “Science” questions on the page reads: “On June 30, 2004, the Cassini spacecraft reached the outer rings of what planet?” The answer is, of course, “Saturn.”

Launched in 1997, it took Cassini seven years to reach Saturn. This is not the only event from 2004 to be added to Brain Quest in 2005. Another very exciting and long awaited event was when the Red Sox broke their 86-year curse by winning the World Series in October 2004.

October 28, 2017 will be the 13th anniversary of 10/28/2004.

This Sunday, July 2, 2017, marks the halfway point of the year. At noon (or 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. in countries that use daylight-saving time), we will be exactly 50% of the way through the year.
