Clay poster of Bangladeshi film Kagoj preserved at Bangladesh Film Archive
[edit]
A clay-made, relief-style promotional poster created for the Bangladeshi film Kagoj (The Paper) has been preserved at the Bangladesh Film Archive, according to Bangladeshi media reports and earlier coverage of its handover to the archive.[1][2]
The poster was produced using clay/terracotta as part of the film’s promotion, rather than the more common printed or digitally designed formats used in film marketing. Reports describe the work as a sculptural, three-dimensional relief piece, created by artist Rinku with assistants under the supervision of director Ali Zulfikar Zahedi, and completed in about a month.[3][4]
Earlier reporting said the clay poster and a digital copy of the film were formally handed over to the Bangladesh Film Archive in April 2023.[5]
Observers have noted that the preservation of promotional materials can reflect a broader recognition of such objects as cultural artifacts beyond their original marketing purpose.[6]
