On September 4, it was reported that the lightsaber prop used by the fictional character Darth Vader in the Star Wars films had been sold at auction in Los Angeles. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was the highest-priced piece of Star Wars memoribilia sold at auction, breaking a record for the franchise.
The prop was used by David Prowse in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
