On Tuesday 6th of January, in Barcelona‘s Palace Hotel, David Uclés won the Premio Nadal 2026. He won the prize for writing La ciudad de las luces muertas. The prize comes with 30.000€.
In his speech after receiving the prize, he said that from 2010 to 2020 he was always submitting books without much success, and then he stopped submitting until this edition, where he won.

The prize was given to him not only for merit, but also as an editorial move, as the company that gives the prize, Grupo Planeta, will replace Uclés’ previous editorial, Siruela.
When aked by El País about the change of editorial, he said: “I’ve talked with Siruela, it’s all ok”.
