On Sunday, youth members of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR) welcomed a new training and capacity-building program aimed at strengthening political participation. The announcement was made during activities in Ngoma and Kirehe districts.
Murenzi Jean De Dieu, the DGPR youth president, said the initiative would empower young people to take a stronger role in the country’s political life. Speaking to *Rubanda.rw*, he stated: “Twishimiye iyi gahunda kandi ntagushidikanya izatugeza kure,” which translates to “We are happy with this program and there is no doubt it will take us far.”
According to the DGPR, the program includes training sessions, exchanges with central leadership, and opportunities for young members to develop leadership and civic skills.
Murenzi, who also serves as Managing Director of Wise Way Rwanda and is Africa Regional Coordinator of the Global Young Greens, emphasized that the program is part of broader efforts to support youth participation in governance.
The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda was founded in 2009 and is among the registered opposition parties in Rwanda. It has previously called for more inclusion of youth voices in national decision-making processes.
