Youth leader Atharva Deore intends to revive aerospace startup IASRA

[edit]

Pune, India — Atharva Deore, a youth leader with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has announced his intention to restart his earlier aerospace initiative, the Indian Aeronautical and Space Research Association (IASRA). Deore currently serves as President of the BJP College & Student Wing for Kothrud Vidhan Sabha, Pune.[1]

Early aerospace experiments

[edit]

At the age of 13, Deore founded IASRA to pursue low-cost aerospace exploration. He reported constructing experimental rockets using PVC pipes, aluminium foil, and solid fuel. He also designed miniature satellites the size of his palm, integrating Arduino boards and sensors. According to Deore, some of these launches reached altitudes of approximately 3–4 kilometres above ground level.[1]

Future plans and aspirations

[edit]

In recent remarks, Deore stated the revived IASRA would expand beyond rockets to include defence-related technologies. He expressed a long-term aspiration to contribute to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).[1]

IASRA is not currently active, and there is no formal collaboration with DRDO at this stage. Deore’s statements reflect intended future projects rather than established programmes.[1]
