Indian Women’s Cricket Team captain Harmanpreet Kaur etched her name in the history books on Sunday, becoming the first cricketer, male or female, to play 200 T20 Internationals (T20Is). She achieved this milestone during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 match against South Africa, surpassing the records previously held by prominent male cricketers like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Kaur, who opted to bat first in the significant encounter, reflected on her remarkable career journey. “Honestly, it has been an incredible journey. I never thought I would come this far, but I guess God has been kind, and I am really grateful to him, my family, my friends, the BCCI, and all my teammates who have been really supportive,” she stated before the match.
Expressing her gratitude, Kaur added, “I have played 200 matches. To be honest, it has been an incredible journey. The captain also advised debutant Prema Rawat to enjoy the game, admitting she felt more nervous about her 200th match than Rawat might feel about her debut.
South Africa made strategic changes to their lineup, with Dane van Niekerk and Tazmin Brits replacing Sune Luus and Kayla Reyneke.
