Salwan Momika was his name. During the overnight hours of Wednesday, he was shot to death in his apartment in Södertälje, Stockholm, Sweden prosecutors said. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He was livestreaming on social media at the time of the shooting.

He burned a Qaran in 2023 infront Stockholm Central Mosque as a form of protest. His actions caused some people who like the Qaran to get extremely angry. Now he’s dead, and the murder investigation was underway.

Essentially, Momika was a 40-something Iraqi guy. He had been charged with “agitation against an ethnic group” on four separate occasions in 2023. I guess the prosecutors in this case were the ones who recounted the news of his death to BBC.

The Swedish governemt gave him permission to peacefully proetst as he was in compliance with the counttries free speech laws. However, they later changed their stance, saying they may “explore means” to make it so you can still get in trouble for burning religious holy texts “under certain circumstances.”

Basically what they’re saying is, this crime could have possibly been committed by a foreign entity. Sweden’s security services have been brought into the fore. This is all just from BBC. More to come later.
