Actress Bhumi Pednekar has shared a new episode of her food-focused Instagram series, ‘Bhooki Bhumi,’ featuring a visit to the Art of Living Ashram in Bengaluru. Within the tranquil environment of the ashram, Pednekar experienced satvik meals—a vegetarian diet often prepared without onion and garlic—and embraced mindful eating.

A Satvik Feast at the Ashram

On her first day at the ashram, Pednekar introduced viewers to a menu that included dishes like palak paneer, rasam, and kachori. The meal commenced with pumpkin soup, quinoa salad, and pasta, concluding with lauki ka halwa, a sweet made from bottle gourd.

The second day saw Pednekar touring the ashram’s animal farm and feeding cows, remarking, “You can’t find a better morning energy.” Breakfast featured vermicelli upma, rava idli, coconut chutney, and sambar. The actress also sampled homemade strawberry jam on freshly baked ragi bread, croissants from the ashram’s bakery, sprouted legumes, and fresh guava.

The Ashram’s Sustainable Kitchen

Pednekar also visited the ashram’s expansive kitchen, which prepares meals for 25,000 people daily. She noted the kitchen’s commitment to sustainability, explaining that waste is composted to produce biogas, which is then used for cooking. “It’s a complete circularity,” she added.

Lunch was served in multiple courses. The first included kachori and a cold pasta salad, while the second course featured paneer and roti from North Indian cuisine. The meal concluded with papad, kothimbir, tamarind rice, rasam rice, and bottle gourd cooked in a yogurt-based coconut sauce.

Pednekar shared her reflections: “What touched me the most was the love. Because sometimes food is not just about the taste; it’s about service, community, and the people behind every meal. I left with a full heart and a fuller stomach, appreciating more deeply the true meaning of nourishing a human life. Thank you @artoflivingashram for these precious teachings.”

Bhumi Pednekar’s visit highlights how food can transcend mere taste, integrating nourishment, community, sustainability, and mindful living.
