The United Nations Security Council convened in New York on Wednesday for its annual open debate on women, peace, and security, marking 25 years of a landmark resolution. The Secretary-General’s latest report, presented during the session, highlighted a significant gender disparity in peace negotiations. In 2024, women constituted merely seven percent of negotiators globally, with nearly nine out of ten peace processes lacking any female representation.
